Milo V2 is the next evolution of the open-source desktop CNC mill from Millennium Machines. It builds on the OpenBuilds MiniMill concept with improvements to the size, rigidity, and customization. Designed for DIYers, the Milo V2 can cut soft metals like aluminum and brass, as well as steel if you're smart about it, while also excelling at composites, wood, and plastics.
Milo V2 is a capable desktop mill without the proprietary black box. This LDO kit includes the parts to build it, with full documentation from Millennium Machines. It cuts a wide range of materials and can be maintained with hand tools instead of a service contract.
Every Milo V2 kit includes the standard LDO parts. We also offer two optional upgrades to improve the build.
A 2.2 kW (3HP) air-cooled spindle with an 80mm body, rated up to 24,000 RPM and paired with a VFD. The ER20 collet holds tool shanks up to 13mm, and the included kit end mills still fit.
A CNC machined metal mount made to hold the 80mm 3HP spindle. It attaches to the Z axis in place of the stock spindle mount, and can be added to your kit in the configurator.

Steel is on the table with conservative cuts, sensible feeds and speeds, and a carefully assembled and trammed machine. The part shown is 303 stainless.

Aluminum is everyday work for Milo. Grades like 7075 machine cleanly, alongside composites such as carbon-fiber sheet and G10 for brackets and enclosures.

Hardwoods, plywood, MDF, and plastics like acrylic and Delrin are easy work for prototypes, fixtures, inlays, signage, and enclosures.
Published under GPL-3.0
Milo V2 is fully open-source under the GPL-3.0 license. The full CAD, bill of materials, and assembly manual are all published on GitHub, so you can build it, modify it, and source parts from any supplier.
Milo runs on RepRapFirmware, with an optional MillenniumOS add-on for guided probing, toolsetting, and tool changes. Development is public, with an active community on Discord and Reddit.

Every Milo V2 configuration starts with the base kit. Additional options below can be added.
Required
The LDO kit with the mechanical parts needed to build the machine, shipped in two cartons.
Optional
The Millennium Machines electronics box that controls the machine and runs RepRapFirmware.
Optional, 110V or 220V
Replaces the stock spindle with the 2.2 kW (3HP) ER20 spindle and VFD that matches your voltage.
Optional
A CNC machined metal mount for the 80mm 3HP spindle. It attaches to the Z axis in place of the stock spindle mount.
Optional
An LDO enclosure for Milo with a chip tray and a separate electronics bay. It measures roughly 1060 x 860 x 880mm (W x D x H). Fans and e-stop not included.
Optional
A full set of printed parts needed for the build. The STL files and print guide are also in the Documentation & Resources section below for those that wish to print their own.
